Cooking Tips

Experience is the best teacher...

Here are some tips and tricks to make cooking easier and your food taste better.

Please feel free to contribute your own cooking tips -- I'll post the best ones so everyone can see them.

Here's an example of the format I might use for my tips.

Tip 1: Eggs in Baked Goods

When baking, it's best to bring eggs to room temperature first. Using cold eggs may affect the cake's texture. To quickly bring eggs to room temperature, let them soak in a bowl of warm water for about a half hour.  If you don't have a half hour, forget about it and start cooking.

Tip 2: Moist Roast Turkey

I've cooked and roasted turkeys many different ways and I find the most consistently moist bird comes from using an oven cooking bag. (Browning Bag) The turkeys I roast in these are consistently moist and delicious.

Tip 3:  Measuring Sticky Liquids

When faced with measuring sticky liquids like honey or syrup for a recipe, how do you get it all out of the measuring cup? Try spraying the inside if the measuring cup with cooking spray before (of course!) measuring your sticky stuff. It will slide right out of the cup.

Tips are Tops!
